Today we found that we could keep the disks 2-3 degrees C cooler by raising the disks higher. This allows greater airflow beneath the disks where the electronics reside.

The bottom of the disks are normally 0.36" above the enclosure. This was increased by 0.24" to 0.6" clearance.

The thermal test results now have a permanent home. The latest results can always be found here:

Why are you running the drives with the electronics side down instead of up? Convection from a circuit board up orientation should assist with your cooling issues.
